“How much is it to build a new website?”
“How much do you charge for updates to a website?”
“How much … ?”
Every website is different and so “how much” isn’t an easy question to answer. We usually counter that question with some of our own.
“How many pages do you envision needing for your new site?”
“Do you require a custom design?”
“Do you need special functionality such as e-commerce?”
You get what you pay for … or do you?
We’ve had a variety of clients from many different industries come our way. And they have all been in different stages of development when it comes to their websites.
Some of them are starting a new business and need a new website. Others have a website but want a complete redesign. And still others just need some updates and guidance on how to get the most out of their website.
Some of them have seen Facebook ads for “agencies” that are willing to make website changes for $5. Of course, they don’t tell you what kind of changes they are willing to make. And I would warn any business owner against giving their website credentials to someone who’s willing to work for $5.
On the other hand, we have seen clients come to us who have spent thousands on a complex website that they didn’t need or even request. We actually have customers asking us to “tone down” and “simplify” their sites for them.
The real question is: How much is your website worth to you?
Now, we aren’t saying you can name your exact price when it comes to website development, design and maintenance. But your website developer should be able to give you a list of prices so that you can make decisions on what custom development, features and services you want to accompany your website.
And that’s our promise.
We will always be up front about what we can offer you. We will always be honest about the most economic way for you to get the best website for your business. We will explore new ideas and solutions for you and give you the best advice we can.
Don’t give someone access to your site for a $5 fix. And don’t spend thousands on a website you don’t want.
